This weekend I did my first race since my injury and it felt really good to be back on the bike in a race! We drove up to Moraine state park for the final Month of Mud race and it was an unbelievable fall day. There was a really big turnout and a lot of fast guys in the expert class. I had a bad start but it was a long double track start and went into a big climb so I made my way to the front pack. They really were going after the first climb on those single speeds but once we hit the flat the slowed so I came around and put the hammer down and made them spin like crazy. It was short lived and on the next climb into the single track I lost some positions. I had some really good power for about 30 minutes but faded after that, the rock at this place were relentless and I think I was the only guy on 26 inch wheels. The 29er's had the advantage for sure at this place! All in all I ended up 5th place expert and I am pretty happy with that for now.
